Enuff !!! Its Time for a change !!!

after a few weeks of a computer break i just took a look at the Homm 3 rankings and im kinda shocked what happened in the higher ranks....its because nothing happened at all. couldn't be more boring or inactive if ya ask me.

i think there are several reasons why this is that why..some ideas of me:

- Many former top ranked players dont play anymore - be it they play h4 now (shame on ya ) or they simply quit h3 because of a lack of challenge - e.g. a challenging subtourneys

- The points were not reseted or transfered in a good rate from myth to toh point system . the transfer rate was a joke mothing more. that destroys the ranking system totally as u need about the double number of games to catch a "myth player" with some myth games with the toh point system.

- the news are updated as often as heroes 4 .... an active site needs fresh news as often as possible and not only one news per month.

- coordinators need a firm + sometimes cruel hand . one reason why toh homm 3 was so successfull, was also because ves sometimes behaved like a dictator. (even is most complained about this it was a huge part of the tourney success) . an active league (or one that wants to be active) needs someone serious management - kitten is kinda too nice if u ask me - toh isnt supposed to play in a friendly atmosphere - its supposed to give players challenging and tuff games. thats why someone is needed who can kick some butts if needed and doesnt try to talk nice in worng situations.

- HOS + honor council  : i havent seen the listing of the honor council members for h3  anywhere. just the onld ones are listened which are supposed to do their work for h4 as far as i know - i dont think someone can take all he work for 2 games. well maybe its just that players dont cheat anymore....and pigs can fly...

- boring subtourney that have been around 525252 times and are not really intresting for the Pro-homm-player. fresh ideas are needed - or some more challenging

that are just some reasons which come immediatly to my mind.

i really love h3 and it hurts to see a great game dying this way because of some horrible management mistakes - or be true you h3 lovers : you really like the situation like it is now ?

its not too late to do stop this painfull h3 dead but first some peeps have to open their eyes and accept that it cant continue this way and that mistakes have been made.
if they finally do so me and some others would love to help to do something to change the current situation.

i think its worth a try - it cant get worse can it ?

dont let H3 die - its time for a change now

Without sounding totally negative about this, but Heroes III has almost had it day.

Heroes IV is the lastest.

I'll bet Heroes II was like this when Heroes III came out.  And Heroes II was an excellent game.  But we must face facts that Heroes IV will be more popular than ever.

So when Heroes V comes out it will be more popular than is predessors.  (Of course i am speculating about Heroes V since no one has saw it yet).

This is the truth and painful it might be to you or others.  We tend to move forwards in out lives, sometimes backwards for nostalgia but always forward.

There are people who do want to play heroes 3 online, motor.  I never have, but since I'll have broadband internet soon, you'll see me appear on the zone in a short while.  I have no clue on how the ToH functions.  Divisions, Fest, Clans...  if someone would explain to me what they are and which ones are cool, I'd be happy to join in and play.  You're right, we shouldn't let a great game like that die out just like that, I'm sure others feel the same way.  Greetings, Nidhgrin.

no, you dont get it man...h3 is for many peeps a game they will always play in 1 way or another...h4 cant compete with that in any form, its just not good enough.
h3 has so many fans it wont just not be played anymore...chess isnt stopped to be played too, and you can easy compare those 2 games if you ask me.

You have got me wrong motor.

What i was meaning was with Heroes III whether it is the management side or the activity side has almost stopped.

This is becasue people especially those in the management and organisation have move over to Heroes IV and concentrating on their energies on that aspect.

It wont be long before the entire structure that surrounds the Heroes III will eventually cease.

EG

Where is Heroes II information? or Heroes I for that matter?  They have all gone because people are more interested in the new outcome.  That is all

Someone might continue with the production of the heroes III management side.

That is how it goes.

hi motor !

i agree with you 100%

But your dreaming.. this will never happen!

i liked TOH for good and bads.

The competition was high there!

and to gythandril... some people do the same work for almost all of their lives... some people play chess over and over again. We are actually a HUGE amount of players that LOVE homm3 and will NOT move on to homm4.

so that bull about moving on... doesnt work man...

Do what you love... Love what you do!

Why not?  How and where do I get more info on all of the different options concerning ToH?  Myths, fest, clans, divisions, what are they, how do they work, which ones rule, what ones suck?  You high ranked players should be the ones that are able to help an 'online noob' with this.

EDIT: O, I get it.  Because ToH isnt supposed to be played in a friendly atmosphere, you can't answer this question.
Well, thanks.  ~Nidhwillkickyourassanydaygrin.

I don't think you have to worry about H3 dieing...sure there is going to be a drop in player interest as former H3 players are trying to give H4 a proper go of it.
You already have a place for H3 players to get together on the zone and as long as the interest is there it will stay there.
H4 in its present form on gamespy will fade long before H3
ever will . I go there to see for a game and lucky if there
is 15-45 people at best.
I know you don't want to turn this into a 3 vs 4 but unfortunately there lies the problem. H3 has had its day and
maybe H4 will have its someday too.
But...H3 will always stay on my computer...even if just for hotseat cause my kids want to play it with me more than H4.
Good luck to you for keeping the H3 interst going .

Thanks Titan, seems like I'm gonna find most of my questions answered on the site.

EDIT: One question though.  My newest computer (AMD 1.2 with 256M ram) crashes very frequently.  Let's say approximately every hour.  I have no clue why this is, as it happens in all games I play on it (Diablo2, Heroes 3&4, ...).  It just locks up, the sound sticks to a certain tone and I have to use a cold reboot.  I've reformatted several times, installed Win98 in stead of XP, disabled power management... it all just doesn't seem to work (maybe it's the cpu, the memory or the video card Geforce2, but don't have money to replace these for fun).  That's why I would rather play using my older machine (266Mhz Intel with 160M ram).  This pc never crashes, but is way slower.  Will it do?  I do not want ppl to regard me as a cheater because I drop out of games occasionally.  Or is it too slow to play online?

Motor, I totally agreed with your post until I read this part, then monitor wore my coffee! Not played in a friendly atmosphere? This is the entire reason I stopped playing ToH and started playing bastards. Every bastard game I have had I would say has been friendly, with many laughs had on either side, especially the 2v2, where as in ToH games, I play a lot of people I dont know (and unfortunately, and inherently dont/cant trust). This is a huge reason i keep coming back to play this game, because of the people I have met, and still enjoy playing even after over 4 yrs.

For me this game will always be played, its such a classic and close to the perfect game, anything that follows will almost certainly be a disappointment. H4, but that is largely the manufacturers fault.

i think u missunderstood my point . maybe cause its hard to express in english for me. i didnt mean that all players have to behave like asses and are forbidden to laugh during a game.  of course not lol.

but a league makes only sense if there is competition. if all players allways play 1-2 of their friends for example and noone else we can rightaway go and close it... or another example: or if the coordinators are too nice  to peeps who miss deadlines ...and so on. just two examples maybe u understand now better what i wanted to say.

Yes I agree ANDI!! CHess and H3 are the same.  Both games use the SAME board over and over and the squares are the same spot every time

_________________________________________________________

That was one of the main reasons this veteran player quit playing H3.  I dont want to get into another war post over the subject of maps etc. Just pointing out that Motor is wanting to know why people have left the game and lost interest.  For the same reason you claim tournies got old after doing them 52252 times, same goes for playing the same week 3 map over and over.  And there is NO difference.  Most people that are clinging on to that week3 map way of life are the people who have MASTERED the strat for it so there for can easily exploit it.

If 90% of H3'ers played Random XL's then I might still play H3 some. But it is really not worth my time to try and climb the ladder rankings when players play DesertWar or HG 110 times for quick easy fast kills that gain them quick easy points.

I always get flames for my views on this subject, but as I said not trying to start a post war on it just asnwering Motor's question as to why people have left.

It took me a while to like H4 but the moment I found out of the Pseudo random technology in H4 editor it made it worth learning.

I want to wish all you H3'ers the best of luck and hope you still have TONS of fun. The past 4 years were the greatest. H3 gave me plenty of super memories. But alas as much as I hate to admit it.  Heroes 4 is going to be better than H3, in time.

p.s. If H3 tourny section ever decides to trash all the medium maps and go with more large and Xlarge fixed maps or plays more randomXL's I will be back to play some.

Good Luck and Have Fun!!!!

TOH has always...

breeded cheaters... Cheaters.. fake reporters.

Addict tourney: wonders how many fake reports there went in it...

Division: wonders how many time you played a player named XXX but actually you played vs. YYY.

i wondered: How many used 2 computers.

i wondered: How many people sended savegames during the game to a friend to have them tell the current situation in game.

And if you eleminate all this cheats... you are left with unfair gaming!

Even ChunhyanGakGak needed to hear how much newbie killer he was!

Medium maps not allowed for TOH!

and then if we go back in TIME!

Flamingo... the AllStar SKULL #1... wich was to be found in the league year after year.. hehe really doesnt make sence!

Damn no wonder that no-one plays TOH nomore!

Oh wait... Bad_Boxa just became legioniarie

I fully understand what you are trying to convey, however, when you promote that kind of "non-friendly" atmosphere, you also promote the "I only want to win, not enjoy the game" attitude (aka "the flamingo way"). Thats not for me, too many people doing anything they possibly can to win and taking all the fun out of it. I prefer the "b@stards philosophy" Have fun and enjoy the game first, worry about the win later (if at all). Of course there needs to be competition, but why cant it be healthy, and not at the expense of fun?

no - u misunderstood me.

the main question i wanted to get answered is : are players and coordinators happy the situation is right now with toh homm3 ?

to me it seems that not everyone seems to care about the current situation....its ok if players think like that but its sad if tourney coordianators  do so.

toh homm3 is like a product which needs to attract the players. if it doesnt attract the players anymore the league is gonna die. i dun think that most h3 players want that to happen. so i say changes must be made . and they must be made fast.

@jinxer: sorry i dun think ur post fits into this thread- its just another "jinxer cries about fixed maps" - post. we allrdy have thousands of em everywhere around this message board - seems like u wanna put one of em into every thread

so once again : who is happy with the current situation about homm 3 TOh and who isn't ? would be really intresting to know....

Just Another Heroes 3 Bum

Hola Motor, well all I have noticed "change wise" is that most of the reliable players have left the zone (maybe they practicing their heroes 4 skills ) or maybe they just hate the current situation with tournaments closing/opening leaving players with no idea whats next.

I personaly stopped playing tournament games a long time ago, I prefer "FUN", win or lose means nothing to me...of course I play to win but that isnt always the case hehehe

Heroes 3 in my opinion will always be the ultimate in online gaming, its a shame to see it dying in this way after so many years being on top.

I for one will not stop playing heroes 3 be it multiplayer or single player regardless of how much a toss the AI is, basicaly I don't care, I like to play "the map" and see what i can get away with example: my lone troop "1 angel" has 2 health left and i have still to kill 2 stacks of 4 mino kings with no mana

I my opinion the exp points for combat should be awarded as to how you fought the battle and not how many creeps you killed, I wonder sometimes if 3DOH had implemented this into the game how much better it would have been

Anywayz I'm off, I just came here to talk a load of bollox as there was nothing else to do.
